7-Eleven New Convenience Store Construction

New Store Construction

The Project

In the Gas Lamp district of San Diego, 7-Eleven, Inc. sought to initiate a walk-up convenience concept by introducing a convenience store into a multi-use building in a historic preservation area.  This controversial project required unique space planning to preserve the structural integrity of the building and existing architectural features, and also required careful consideration of the needs of existing tenants, residents and downtown traffic and parking constraints.

The QPM Solution

This project was very controversial from the start. QPM worked hard to gain support from the city council, tenants and residents by highlighting all of the positive effects of the project.  We negotiated and introduced a workable phased-construction plan palatable to the residents, the business tenants and the client’s budget.

The Results

QPM successfully ensured store was laid out in a functional manner, preserved the structural integrity as well as the architectural elements, and maintained the short building timeframe while addressing the special concerns of the project’s many neighbors.  QPM delivered one of the highest-volume stores in our client’s portfolio and received many accolades for the project process and completion. The city officials all attended the Grand Opening of the new store and conveyed their approval to several QPM employees.
